When Ginny sent the email that ALWAYS FORWARD was available for purchase I immediately downloaded #9. I originally began with Book #1 and have grown attached to each character as I have read the series in order. I was impatient for this newest book to be published. I stopped everything in my life that could be stopped and began reading immediately and into early hours of the morning. When I read Bregdan Chronicles, I always feel as though I am a valued part of Carrie, Robert, Abby, Thomas, Rose, Moses, Annie, and so many others lives. I feel I am a part of their unique family. I enjoy laughing and crying with them. I rejoice in their joys and mourn with their sorrows. I worry with them regarding their concerns and fears. It is hard for me to accept that they are fictional characters because Ginny writes in such a way that I feel each person is real. Since I began the series a while ago, when old characters returned to Cromwell Plantation, I struggled with remembering their place in the story. I appreciate the way that Ginny quickly incorporates clues and memories in the discussions to help me remember them from the past. Just like at a family reunion, I am reminded about the person and how they fit into my memory of them.While readying ALWAYS FORWARD I felt like I was at a family reunion - where we get to share our joys, sorrows, pain, despair, acceptance, and above all LOVE with one another. Since my personal life is presenting similar struggles as those in ALWAYS FORWARD, I found the remarkable wisdom which Ginny weaves throughout all the Bregdan Chronicles series to be emotionally healing. I've made a note to myself to definitely read this book again when my time to mourn arrives to show me the way to emotionally heal. I gained much hope that I, too, can heal and always move forward in my life. As for my life today, I so much needed the wisdom that "...life will always be full of ups and downs, suffering and joy... it is so important to embrace the joy fully, pulling it into every part of your being, because you will need it there when the next hard times start. You'll need the joy to balance the grief, and to remind you that the sunrise always follows the darkness."While I wait for Book #10 (Walking Into the Unknown), I've decided to read Bregdan Chronicles again, beginning with Book #1 and make a journal of the powerful insights and wisdom that Ginny shares throughout the series. I would love to know more about Ginny and how she has gained her incredible wisdom. (I picture Ginny to be a lot like Abby.) Hopefully, one day when my life is more settled, I can make a journey to the east coast to attend one of Ginny's fan dinners. Oh, how joyful that experience will be for me! I'll just keep moving forward and see where my life takes me.If you are new to the Bregdan Chronicles series, I suggest you begin with Book #1. The research that Ginny puts into each of these historical fiction books is astounding. I've learned so much about life during and after the Civil War - from both the north and the south perspective. If your experience is anything similar to mine, you will learn beautiful concepts about life and living. Hopefully, you too will be inspired to live more abundantly and with love and acceptance for everyone you interact with every day.Thanks so much Ginny! I'll be anxiously awaiting #10.
Happy, sad & impatient (waiting for the next book)!History you've never been taught brought forward. I've learned a lot of history from all of Ginny's books (thank you so much for sharing).It's hard to believe these people are fictional. The story continues on in each book, a page turner you'll be reluctant to put down until you've finished reading the entire book.Less than 24 hrs since its' release and I've finished the book. Time to start rereading the entire set again.If you haven't read any of these books you've missed out big time. My suggestion would be just try the first book. If you're not hooked by the first chapter try one more. These books have grabbed my heart & soul from the beginning page right until the last word.
I am not writing this review on just Always Forward but on the whole series. I absolutely love these books! And having to wait almost a full year has been like missing your family for a whole year just wishing you could just see them for a little while at least. I have missed my Bregdan family sooo much, wish I had purchased the paper backs instead so I could have reread while waiting for the last one! I am computer illiterate so did not know how to get them back on my Kindle app once they had been deleted, lol. But I can hardly wait to get the tenth book in this series. So please give me the patience to wait a few more weeks!!! Love them, love them, love them
I JUST FINISHED ALWAYS FORWAED.. As always reading any of the Bregdan Chronicles I did not want to put the book down.. I will read it again. I have learned so much from reading all 9 of these books. I also felt part of the main people in the book and their families. At one point I cried and cried Right now I am going to go back and read the book again . I have so much more to learn from this book. ands to enjoy reading it all over again.thank you GINNY DYE. I love reading , but these are the best books I have ever read. And have opened up my eyes to things I never knew .
I have sung the praises of The Bregdan Chronicles far and wide. I am and always have been an avid reader. It is my passion, my therapist, my best friend. However, never before have I felt as if I am living the story. It is an amazing experience. For all you "readers" out there in storyland, do yourself a favor and start from square one....You won't be able to stop and you will love every minute of your reading pleasure. I am so excited to have just downloaded #9 to my Kindle. Happy reading....You won't be sorry, for sure!
I love the Bregdan Chronicles series so much. I find myself fact-checking constantly. While a lot is fiction, there's an awful lot that's true about the years of the Civil War. As a student in high school in the 70's I never liked history and couldn't absorb it the way it was presented, now I'm excited to learn all I can due to this series. It's just crazy how the politics and drug problems today actually existed back then. I really had no idea.Though this is a fictional series and characters have been created, I have been in mourning all day for a character I grew to love so much. I feel so much loss. I can't be on a spoiler list for those who have yet to read the chronicles. But I have spent a good part of my day crying. Always forward...omgosh, how? I'm broken hearted...
Ginny Dye's Bregdan Chronicles and I have a love/hate relationship. I love reading each new book, and I hate when I've read the last page. This is one of the best series I have ever read, and I've read many over the years. At #9, Always Forward brought great joy and great sadness to Carrie Borden and her family. This may be the best book in this series for the times we live in today. Just as in the post Civil War years, the United States today suffers from systemic problems involving race and politics. If ever we needed to think about the rights of others and what we can do to make our country better, this is the time. Ginny's series is a love story, a drama, a historical series full of substance. I highly recommend these nine books.
