This book was the result of many years of study and interfaith dialogue as well as a dedicated regular practice of various forms of prayer such as the Rosary, Lectio Divina, Centering Prayer, and the Eucharist. There is an enthusiasm and exuberance in Br. Teasdale's ongoing communion with God that he is eager to share with the world -- not as a boast but as a gift. To show that such faith, hope and love is accessible to all. He takes the affirmation of Vatican II, that all major faiths contain their own take on the greater truths of life and death, very seriously. His exploration of other religions is done from the perspective of someone who is rooted in his own tradition, and while he presents his own synthesis of how he interprets other faiths, he doesn't force this on those from other religions. Everyone, religious and irreligious, interprets other religions and beliefs through the lens of their own views, and Teasdale does so generously, accurately and honestly. His vision isn't one of a sloppy, indistinct mush made up of pieces of various religions that is so generic and bland as to be useless. In fact Teasdale writes so lovingly of the structures and liturgical gems each tradition has inherited that one suspects he would find such an indiscriminate merger of religions to be a tragedy. His view for an inter-spiritual age is based on the idea that each tradition is a complete system which can interact with and learn from others without losing its distinctiveness. I purchased this book many years ago and have re-read it several times, and each time I find something I didn't notice or fully appreciate before. It is a wonderful companion to have on your spritual journey.

I enjoyed reading how well-versed this earthly monk is concerning major religions. He offers a unique perspective on the role of love and kindness in widely different religious practices.I suppose his greatest contribution to the individual reader is that he guides you in what it takes in character development to become more mystical in one's own heart. Not a book to be taken lightly - if you would reconcile your spiritual practice to those of the masters of love and kindness!

I belong to a seekers class. When people are jumping back and forth looking at different paragraphs and sentences You are helpless. They say page such and such great except each page is in 3 parts by the time you locate they have moved to a new one.

Inspiring and informative. Not something you read like a novel. This one take time and pauses. I like it.

This is a 10 year project with lectures on every book in the Bible. It is excellent! He is knowledgeable and cleaver and not at all "preachy." I listened to most of the Old Testament in preparation for a trip to Israel and it sure helped put everything in perspective. I highly recommend it.

I have gotten so much out of this, this is the only review I have ever done. He is wonderful.

Bill Creasy is funny, insightful, and intense when he reads God's quotes.. I found this to be more of a Bible as literature course. I’m certain Bill would say he toned it down drastically from his actual college courses. Be advised that he does not go through the entire Bible line-for-line. Rather, it is a summation of most of the books therein. He provides multiple anecdotes, and his numerous visitations to areas mentioned bring the geography to life. I found it interesting that his teachings of the New Testament appear, to me, very different than the Old Testament. I actually preferred his Old Testament style. Then, again, the New Testament is completely different anyway, so, hmm. Still, I felt he glossed over some salient points in the New Testament. Regardless, if you are looking for a quick-ish way through the Old Testament, then this is the download for you. If you are looking for a line-by-line through the Bible, then this is not for you.

I enjoy listening to Dr. Bill Creasy, and you can tell he has steadied out his subjects. He has been to the holy land numerous times, and knows much about ancient Hebrew and it's contemporary cultures. I sometimes wished that he would have elaborated on some of the bible highlights he only touched on, but this is only the One Year bible study. I'm looking forward to digging into the book by book study.I've listened through Ruth so far and am really enjoying it. However, I have a few concerns with certain statements he's made, listed below. As such, I suggest you listen to this course, not to find or change any Godly convictions you have, but to color your bible knowledge. Use this as a geographic and cultural step by step timeline, not a doctrinal study.1. While he firmly admits most of the miracles happened, there are two, so far, he explains away. One is that when the walls of Jericho fell down, it was from the entire population of the city on the walls, watching. Suddenly, after the 7th time round the walls on the 7th day, the Israelite army of half a million men run towards the gate. The people on the walls see them coming and rush in towards the city, thus pushing the walls out and there you have it. You can hear people laugh as he gives his theory. The second explained-away miracle, is that the sun never stood still for Joshua. He needed darkness, so God sent a 24hr storm to keep it dark. "The sun never actually stood still." hmmm2. Just a few classes after he explains how serious it is to take the name of God in vain, he says "oh my God" in an exclamation. I would find that normal in a secular class, but concerning to hear a teacher of the bible use that term, knowing how God views it.If you want to get the fullest out of this, there will be some things you'll need to agree to disagree on. Such is life.Enjoy and be blessed! This man is very thorough and captivating teacher. I would love to take my wife on one of his Holy Land tours.

This is a good course to get you an introduction to the bible from a literary stand point. Dr. Creasy makes it a fun and entertaining experience with side stories and analogies that help you relate to the Biblical Stories. For a deeper look into each chapter I highly recommend downloading the Chapters one at a time.

Best audio Bible study out there. Creasy strikes the right balance between explaining facts, applying the Bible's lesson to daily life and making it interesting. He's crazy smart on understanding every detail within the Bible.
