No good, waste of time! I can't believe that there will be this little value in this book total waste, this is more like a scam to me it shouldn't be considered as business teaching, on top of it the website is not even working, don't buy this it's just ridiculous

I found it to be a bunch of stories about different persons rise and falls and noreal information to make money...so now is when you have to pay to get info...for sure i would have not bought it if i knew ahead of time about the content.

Don't bother.Seriously. Don't bother.Very little actionable information. It's the equivalent of an infomercial- a lot of hype, nothing useful.

I ordered this book and received it very quickly. I had a question about the book because I thought I had ordered the wrong one at first, and they were very helpful and quickly answered my questions. As far as the book goes, first of all I am a huge Dan Lok fan. And in his book he did not disappoint. I like how he points out how important mindset is and how limiting beliefs can hold people back. I also really enjoyed how he emphasizes the importance of taking responsibility for your own life and not pointing fingers at others. If your business sucks, it's because you suck as a business owner and not because of anything that anyone else has done or said. He speaks the truth and is brutally honest about your business and at the same time is very candid and open with information that will help you to succeed. It's an excellent read. He is very straightforward and once again brutally honest, so if you don't like the truth then you won't like what he has to say. However, if you have a growth mindset on our open for self development, growth and Improvement then he is definitely the author for you. His books are well-written, straightforward, to the point and have interesting stories within the chapters as well. I would highly recommend all of his books, Especially this one F.Um Money 💰 and his book Influence: 47 forbidden psychological tactics you can use to motivate, influence and persuade your prospect. Probably one of his best books in my humble opinion. You really cannot go wrong with this man if you are trying to improve your business and yourself. (He also has an amazing YouTube channel called Boss in the Bentley and a podcast called standing on the shoulders of Titans, also great ways to expand your mindset). I love this guy's teachings and his style, he's nothing short of amazing and genius

You must be wondering why there only one star for a great book like this...Yes, i just aim to get your attention and tell you that this is a good book!

If you've ever watched his Ted Talk, then you probably don't need this book. It's mostly rooted in the basics of any money wisdom you can find in better books and is full of profanity, which is a bit distracting and makes it less likely to be suggested to others.

Mr. Dan, I just finished reading your book and I have realized just how lazy I have been, how many excuses I have made as to why I'm not financially free. Generally a good interesting read. In later parts of the book, he does tend to rehash earlier topics, leading one to believe that the first draft of the book was a little short and needed another 50 pages to publish. He tends to come back to the vulgar language in his kitchens repeatedly, even offering translations at one point. This eventually gets boring and, frankly, makes the book hard to gift or recommend to people one does not know closely. That said, Bourdain has matured considerably since he wrote this and I do look forward to his future works.

GREAT book! I couldn't put it down. Having been in food service most of my life, I'm only 26yrs old and feel like I've already been exposed to it all. After reading this...not even close. Anthony never goes far beyond the truth of spending his time in a kitchen. Explaining each and every detail about his experiences from culinary school all the way to executive chef running his own restaurant. There's definitely some evil out there, but also many rewards. He tells it how it is. There's plenty of spoilers in this book including talk about what kinds of knives to use, kitchen equipment and about how to improve upon your own skills as a chef, restaurant employee or even an owner. However, this is really a story--not business for dummies. He's done a great job here.

“Kitchen Confidential" is the book that made Anthony Bourdain and, after two decades, it holds up extremely well. Bourdian offers insights on what happens in the kitchen and what drove him to become a chef. He presents am engaging and sometimes funny look at his early experiences with restaurants, their owners, staffs and even takes readers behind the scenes with his own life. This is a very different Bourdian than the one who pops up on CNN these days, far less mature and worldly and more profane. Regardless, fans will appreciate “Kitchen Confidential” and Bourdian’s writing--easily one of the strengths that has kept him on TV for most of the last decade and a half--helps move readers along and offers a memorable impression. Highly recommended.

The first time I read 'Kitchen Confidential,' I was a student at my alma mater, learning Culinary Arts to become a chef. At first read, I was intrigued, shocked, and in wonderment all at the same time. Bourdain's vivid and colorful details of his culinary adventures and misadventures scared me a bit. It made me slightly wonder if I truly knew of the potential fallout that could come from a career in this field. In addition, even though I believed him to be truthful, I also thought he was perhaps exaggerating a bit on some of the debauched and seemingly unreal goings on in the kitchens he had worked in.Now, after having been a chef myself, having worked in multiple kitchens of all caliber in all four coasts of the United States, having worked with multitudes of kitchen associates and many other chefs, I know first hand of Bourdain's perspective and insight. I can tell you with certainty that it's all true. Yes, all true: every sordid, scandalous, wonderful, funny, creative, and amazing bit of it. This book is the culinary life. It's the life we chose, the life we love, and it's also the life that leaves us with literal and figurative scars that will never heal. We love the kitchen and although it loves us back, it also instilled in us some painful, loaded, duplicitous lessons. Lessons which I myself is still finding useful to this day.After learning of Bourdain's shocking suicide three weeks ago on June 8th, I decided to get a new copy of 'Kitchen Confidential.' It had been some fifteen years since I last read it, and I wanted to remember him for the wonderful voice he gave to us certifiable crazy kitchen warriors and culinary ninjas. Us warriors who love food, and us ninjas who have accepted our punishing, culinary fates. I also decided to read it again because I had the pleasure of meeting Anthony Bourdain twice in my life - on the second occasion, I had the honor of cooking for him. Both times, he was as funny, charming, and brilliant as many know him to be from his culinary travel TV shows. Reading the book this second time around made me remember and reminisce how wonderful both of my encounters with him had been.If you're a chef, or a culinary student, I have a feeling I don't need to convince you to buy and read this book. Bourdain's account of his time in the kitchen is our reality, and you know it first hand so you'll relate. If you're a "foodie" (I truly despise this word) or someone who genuinely admires the art of culinary, you'll get a kick out of this book, because you'll feel the sweat, blood, and tears we suffer to creatively feed you and the masses. If you're an ordinary person who simply eats to live, or perhaps you once caught an episode of one of Anthony Bourdain's four television shows over the years, but you don’t really see the reason for all the fuss, you need this book more than anyone else. Unless you're squeamish, a prude, snobbish, or a pretentious person, you'll love 'Kitchen Confidential.' If you are indeed within the third category of people I described, and you open your mind, I guarantee you that you'll fall in love with Anthony Bourdain like we all have and see what all the fuss is that we keep lamenting about.Needless to say, I highly recommend this book. Read it once, read it twice, read it multiple times. You'll be wiser for it. Yes of course, some of the details such as the use of Fax machines to send resumes, the food ordering processes, hiring practices, food safety guidelines, and a couple other things are outdated and no longer relevant by today's Culinary Arts standards. Nevertheless, what remains, remains valid and rings true to this day. This memoir is a solid one. 5-Stars.

Wonderful, wonderful book. Ideal coffee table book for my home; visitors sit there entranced looking at photographs of people from small/rare cultures that are on the verge of disappearing thanks to the encroachment of modern technology and modern life. This book documents these cultures, perhaps in something of a flashy, artificial way, but in an important way nevertheless. Just as photos of the Civil War or the early American West may have been posed or somehow created, yet they helped people to understand and define what was going on. I believe this book does the same thing. In a few years, these cultures will be gone or dying. These images may be all that's left for the non-scholar/non-researcher to find.The photos in the book are just plain beautiful. Each tells its own story, without words, but with the visual connection the reader has to the photograph and the subject of the photo, along with the physical and social environment of each culture as depicted in the images.Yes, the book is pricey. The question is whether it's worth the money. The answer for me (and hopefully for you) is Yes.

The photos are amazing but would have been even more stunning if it were on a glossier paper. I've seen a collection of these photos in the African Museum in Berg en Dal and know they can be much sharper and even more impressive.A couple of the pages in the book I received had been damaged in its making and were stuck together and had to be cut apart, a shame for such a lovely and fairly expensive book.

This isn't just a great book. It's a deeply important book that feels more like you have a world-class museum in your hands. The pictures, of course, are astounding, but there's something about seeing all of these remote peoples that really impacts you as you look.The book is organized by "tribe", basically: There are a few dozen sections each devoted to one group of people living in Africa, Tibet, Siberia, Bornea, South America etc...At the beginning of each section there's a page-long intro to that people, with sections on their history, beliefs, and how they live day-to-day. And then the images come and you see faces that are identical in some cases to faces that existed many thousands of years ago. But they, and their cultures, are still around today.The world is changing so quickly that it is astonishing to see all of these different ancient people in one place. Magnificent book for travellers looking for new places and people to discover. The book itself weighs quite a bit and it's not from the quality of the paper pages. If the care had been taken to print the photos on better paper and perhaps less text quantity, it would be a 5 Star.rating/ It's hard to put out a coffee table book when the quality and color of the photographs are not that good visually.

I love this book and have recommended it to others. If you like to travel or to live vicariously through pictures, and you love cinematographic photos, this is the book for you. Also, the text is unlike many table books as it is brief and gets to the point relatively quickly so it is not like reading an encyclopedia (or Wikipedia for that matter). I love this book and envy the author for what had to be unforgettable and amazingly unique exposure to those photographed. I like that they were stylized photos as many tribal people live quite modern lives, yet continue to honor their culture (like the Māori, whose warrior past is not too dissimilar to that of the Zulus, who were not photographed). I just wish I could have been there with him, but perhaps this is as close as I will get to some, even though I have been a visitor to many countries photographed.

I cannot say enough good thing about this book. It is the finest pictorial book of native peoples of the world I have ever seen.I am an art teacher and am constantly pushing my students to think beyond themselves. The natural beauty and majesty of the people photographed for the pages of this , large and heavy, book remind us all of what is really at stake when we live without thought of others.I have bought 4 copies of this book this week. One for my studio as reference, 3 as gifts to my older apprentices. I cannot Thank Mr. Nelson enough for his efforts in taking these breath taking pictures.This is a must have for anyone who any interest in beauty and humanity, it will provoke conversation and hopefully action. Worth every penny. Beautiful, stunning book.

I bought this as a gift for my aunt for mother's day. She loves photography and learning about cultures all over the world. It was a hit with her and her fiancé is even going to buy a new coffee table just for this book to be on display!It really is amazing and it's HUGE. I mean, it's over 2 inches thick! You could spend quite some time looking at these photos and they're all so beautiful and and intriguing. If you have any doubts, just purchase this anyway! You won't regret it! Well worth the $$$.
