About the Author
John A. Hardon, S.J. was a member of the Society of Jesus for over fifty years. He died in December, 2000. Father Hardon held a Master's Degree in Philosophy from Loyola University and A Doctorate in Theology from the Gregorian University in Rome. He taught at the Jesuit School of Theology at Loyola University in Chicago and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Catholic Doctrine at St. John's University in New York as well as helped organize and publish the Christ Our Life series of religion books for elementary schools and Confraternity of Christian Doctrine programs. Father Hardon was the author of many books, including: The Catholic Catechism, Religions of the World, Protestant Churches of America, Christianity in the Twentieth Century, and Spiritual Life in the Modern World.

Excellent catholic resource!!
Good source of knowledge for Catholics (and others) about the true fundamentals of the Catholic faith.
this is a classic & concise catholic catechism from a very well respected authorlike most catechisms i've seen, the material covers the 4 pillars of catholicism in similar percentages, about 30% for the apostles creed, 30% for the sacraments, 30% for the 10 commandments and 10% for the lord's prayerfr. hardon is a very good writer and adds a surprising amount of background material, historical info & useful tidbits of commentary when describing the catholic beliefsmy only gripe about this book is the not so good binding, which basically falls apart after moderate usage. compared to the high quality bindings of (say) the usccb's compendium or adult catechisms, this binding is a shame for such a good bookfortunately the entire text is also available on the internet, broken into many different pages, all having awesome color images too
This is a great resource for CCD teachers or those who want more clarification on the teachings of the Catholic Church. It is in a question and answer format and easy to understand.
